ACA in Arizona

Does anyone have any information on Health Net for ACA in Arizona? They have the best rates by far. I have read some bad press about them, but my mother-in-law is insured through them and has been really happy.

Also, on the search I was doing they were about $200 cheaper PER MONTH than a lesser AETNA plan.

Thanks!

Yes, they were the cheapest.
yes, price sensitive clients bought them
yes, they got 60+ % of all exchange biz
Yes, they got overwhelmed.
yes, they had their issues
Yes, they had 70% of all DOI complaints
yes, their HMO network stunk
Yes, they had billing issues
Yes, you sat on hold for hours if you needed anything
Yes, your agent does NOT come across from FFM (still)
Yes, it takes 45+ days (still) to become agent of record
Yes, they paid the lowest commissions
Yes, experience the client has had varies

Other than that, things were great

Can you explain what "...your agent does NOT come across from FFM" means?

Sorry, the only thing I have ever sold is final expense and that was several years ago. Now, through a very unique situation I am being pushed to engage clients for ACA, but Aetna and Humana are the only carriers I'm "scheduled" to be appointed with. It seems it would be a disadvantage to not have this option, no?

Also, what kind of commission differences are you aware of? Can you compare them to Aetna/Humana?

Thanks!

PS. If you get 60% of the business and have 70% of the total complaints, isn't that only slightly higher than would be expected? (and possibly partly because, as you said, "...they got overwhelmed.")

When you help them sign up at the marketplace, your agent number does not come across to Health Net, so you don't get credit until you have the client sign a form.

Commissions will vary.....but health net is the lowest at like 4% for Silver/Gold/Platinum, and 2% for bronze.

I wouldn't approach the ACA market unless you have more offering than just 2 that may be tough sells for various reasons.

My numbers were off, going off memory. Here is the article:

Health Net vows to improve health-care coverage, service

Health Net sold the least-expensive plans in Arizona and dominated the market, signing up about 80,000 residents, or two out of every three who enrolled for coverage under the federal health-care law.

While its low monthly premiums appealed to consumers, Health Net's narrow choice of doctors and at-times long phone waits for customer service led to far more complaints than were filed against any other insurer.

The Woodland Hills, Calif., insurer has been named in 89 out of 110 complaints filed with the Arizona Department of Insurance since marketplace coverage began Jan. 1. Consumers most often cited Health Net's inadequate network of providers, lack of access to care, payments not properly credited and policy cancellations.
