Annoying Avatars

A bit of a rant here:

<rant>If you have an animated GIF avatar, I'm going to put you on ignore.

Every animated avatar I've ever seen is stupid, annoying, distracting, unnecessary or all of the above.

"Golddoor" has the latest lame entry in this field. My finger hovers over the "ignore" button.

I tried to put "[email protected] on ignore for his crass and disturbing avatar but I can't! He's a moderator!
I take solace by scrolling quickly past his posts without reading them.

And don't overuse smilies either! They are animated GIFs too, and I'm watching them like a hawk! </rant>

I don't use one, but I sort of enjoy the various avatars that people choose... if they are in good taste. The guy who has the machine gun one sort of makes me uneasy. What kind of 'mind' wants to be associated with that. It's not 'fun' or 'cute.'

My only issue with STI is that he does not change them often enough for me. He has a great imagination (or he is just plain whacko! ) and I'd like to see more from him. His current one is dumb... or I'm just too 'un-cool' to 'get it' but he has had some in the past that were very good.

If I made the rules it would be that IF you use an avatar you must change it each week for the entertainment and amusement of the rest of us.

It's not the avatars I find annoying. It's a few of the people with strong opinions who really don't have a clue as to what they're talking about.

More lib babble!! anti war, anti military, anti gun. Get over yourself Al. I think that every baby born in the U.S should be issued a gun at birth. "This is my gun, there are many like it but this one is mine". Thank God for the 2nd amendment! What kind of "mind" loves to hide behind the 1st amendment while trying to take away the 2nd?

No, it really is annoying. Okay, funny the first time I saw it, but after that, totally boring and annoying. Same with the fried egg one.

That said, the avatar is part of who people are. I believe people have the right to have annoying avatars, if they choose to do so.

Ewe sea, eye have the write too use bad grammar, as long as run my post threw a spellchecker, making sure I haven't maid any miss steaks. If I can do this, people can having annoying avatars.
