Just spoke with an agent friend of mine who's selling the Carefirst HSA HMO like hotcakes on Sunday morning.

Looking for your thoughts - dirt cheap but....everything's after the deductible.

Male 40, female 40 - family - HSA HMO: rate: $219 for a $2,700 deductible. You heard me....$219 with a $2,700 ded - $5,250 OOP.

That, of course, cannot be touched with a 10 foot pole by another other carriers All wellness = free of charge

However, here's the bene's. Question - do you trade a low rate for more liablity in the way of copays after the deductible's been met?

Commission sucks but trust me, if you don't sell it, someone else will... since the RX problem doesn't extend to these plans, I see no reason not to sell them.

My thoughts too - no RX cap and I see little liability with RX and doc copays after the deductible, but that $600/day hospital fee to OOP is worth noticing.

Still, $219 for that family is nuts.

Their BluePreferred HSA PPO comes in at $295. Also hard to compete against with the other carriers.
2700 ded , 5400 oop. no hosp fee. No rx limit.
