Carriers for senior market

I'd like to break into the senior market because I live in South Texas where the winter tourists flock and most of them claim Texas residency because there is no state income tax. There are also a fair amount of seniors who live here year-around.
Need some advice on how to start and who to sell for. I attended an MA training last year but it with a company I left as soon as I realized what they were about (Mega). I'm appointed with Humana, Assurant & GR for health and that's all I've been selling up until now.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.....

For MA plans, go to Medicare.gov and search your area. All depends on what area you are wanting to market as to what carriers will be there.

As for Med supps, go to your state's DOI site. They will usually have a list of carriers who offer them in the state.

Where at in Texas are you? It depends alot on the area you are in as far as MA plans and what you can sell. I am a marketer for the state of TX who provides leads for our agents as long as they sell with companies under us. If your interested I can give you some more info, but I don't want you to think I am spamming you. I can also tell you for Med. Supps what companies are best for the state.

MSIS,

You say you provide free leads to your agents. SO you offer street level commission and free leads or do you give your agents lower contracts so you can buy leads with there money?
DO you offer an unconditional immediate (Rick will ask you this sooner or later) release if they want to move their contracts?

I may be wrong, if so it will be the first time this year and I apologize ahead of time, but he sounds like a general agent who is the "agent of record" on all apps and pays his agents a percent of the commission he receives from the company.

If that is the case I would strongly suggest to any agents looking to contract with a general agent who pays them as opposed to receiving their commission check directly from the company to run, not walk, in the opposite direction.

If his "leads" are direct mail leads they are nothing more than a name, address, phone number and birth date. The same information that can be gleaned from a list of seniors. I have run thousands of them and the people never remember filling out the card and will tell you so when you call.

It would really be helpful to the entire community is a new member, especially one that is "recruiting", would give us some information.

We already know that you "recommend" Plan F in Missouri where virtually all doctors accept assignment so you are not off to a real good start.

Tell us who you really are and what your "program" is.

Actually, I worked with them a couple of years ago. They did provide me with leads in Utah for age-ins and they did give me an up front release.

The leads were free but I did get a haircut on commission. I certainly could have received street level without the leads. They advanced commission as well but obviously at a lower level.

I would recommened them if you are willing to work at a lower commission is exchange for leads. And the leads were good. I stopped selling due to logistics (CA vs UT) and the fact that the leads were for people turning 65 3-6 months in the future. In fact, I thanked them for working with me.

Frank:

This is one of the few times that you are wrong. MSIS is very upfront in that they are the agent of record. At least I think this correct, however it is possible I am listed as the AOR. But they provide leads and advances. In their case, I really don't think this is an issue. The agent has full disclosure of everything so there are no surprises later on.

For agents who don't need leads or advances, then certainly being paid directly from the carrier is the better way of going. I didn't need the advance but the leads were great. They are telemarketed, not direct mail.

As you know, I think most FMOs are dishonest bastards. These guys are one of the few good guys.

Rick
