Carriers I could get without an aggregator?

Long story short...I've been an agent since 2013, but on the health/Medicare side. I picked up my P&C license somewhere along the way and now want to start building out that side of the business. I'm not planning on being a P&C agent in addition to being a L&H agent. I'm planning on managing P&C agents (and L&H agents). I've been looking at SIAA, ASNOA, Smart Start, and First Connect. Then on this forum I saw carriers like Acuity and Central. I'm wondering what other carriers are out there that I might be able to get direct appointments with. IF there are several I think I could go with one of the less expensive aggregators (i.e. First Connect) instead of the more expensive aggregators like SIAA or ASNOA.

First off, you get what you pay for.
Second, you should call Premier Group Insurance although I am not sure we can help you.
Third, Its a tricky time to get into P&C.
Forth, L&H folks never really make the transition very well- some have, its just a small %. (Thats not meant to be offensive its just 23 years of experience.)
Fifth, Listen to @marindependent, he is almost always right!
Sixth, I can't think of more to say.

In the P&C sector, particularly E&S, the vast majority of products are provided through MGAs (in various capacities).

The issue is not due to having a lack of experience as a retailer, but moreso not being an actual MGA with appropriate underwriting acumen and technology infrastructure.

Also transitioning from health/medicare into P&C can be difficult, and carriers tend to not have as much confidence with these agencies that pursue a direct appointment. And this is where Aggregators step in.

Some companies will give you contracts directly but most of the major companies will not. This is why aggregators became a thing, large insurance companies want you to write a certain amount of premium with them per year or they won't issue a contract. Being part of an aggregator allows you to be part of a group to fulfill the minimum contract requirements without having to do it individually. You do have to pay them a small portion of the commission but it gives you more options for your clients. Don't handcuff yourself into only a few companies, this will hurt your business in the long run. Many companies are changing their appetites and getting more strict on underwriting and raising deductibles. If you limit your company to only a few and they take moratoriums writing new business you might not be in business or be able to grow. Good luck
