I know there is GoodRX, Single Care and if you are an AARP member Optimus. There was another one, might start with the letter B, that people here had mentioned that I can't find searching this site. Does anyone know what that one is and of any others? Trying to help someone with a drug not on formularies (and no manufacturer coupon).

There are dozens . . . take your pick. Most (all) is the discount cards not affiliated with a manufacturer are for generic only. Brand name drug discount cards are from the manutacturer and almost all of them aren't available for someone on Medicare.

What is the name of the drug?

At one time, my wife had a pretty expensive med that we started getting from a Canadian pharmacy for a MUCH lower price. They were sending a 3 month supply for about the same price as a 1 month supply in the US. That was several years ago, though, so I don't know how that would work now. But this is the one we were using:[EXTERNAL LINK] - Discount Prescription Drugs Online | Pharmstore.com

Thanks!

She has a doctor apt tomorrow morning and is going to talk to him about alternatives before a D decision is made about what she is going to do. I told her she only has through the 28th to sign up (t65) or she is going to have issues (she is currently in a MAPD and is freaking out over her out of pocket. She just signed with one of the TV ads and I ran into her somewhere hearing her complain about the $3000+ she has accumulated in out of pocket so far - likely not going to pass medical underwriting based on what she has told me so far.). I am going to look into pharma help too. I'll get back to you about the drug if the doctor doesn't think there is a reasonable alternative.

2.5 hours later and she is signed up for G (AARP UHC without the free extras) and D (wellcare) and this morning when she was at her doctor's her doctor found her a program to get an equivalent inhaler for her CPOD (and she smokes so that doesn't help) for free so the not on the formulary issue didn't matter in the end (she only has one other drug which is free on wellcare). As she was already $3k into the out of pocket with C she will save a ton of money. As her GI runs out the end of this month (t65) at least today (unlike yesterday where she'd get frustrated and then not want to deal with it despite me reminding her how much money she'd save in the long run) she stuck with it so we could finish and only had a fit several times. I am glad we are done. As she fails medical underwriting I'll only have to deal with D with her in the future. Yea!

It sounds like you have things sorted right now.

@goillini52 might be able to provide inhaler coverage suggestions if the question comes up again.

@myinsurebiz has a card he likes that his agents use. Can never remember the name.
