Yes I agree, but the Europeans' actions do not always reflect this belief. Most of them/NATO allies rely too much on the US. Trump has warned them, especially the Germans, about depending on Russia too much. The EU pays Russia over $30 Billion a year for energy. Cut that off and Russia will feel it.

So, the alternative is a hostile and predatory Russia? Instead of relying on the US, they need to step up. If it means doing without or with less, it's a sacrifice they may need to make.

Trump is fixing to totally isolate us from the rest of the world economically and militarily. And maybe to get us into a shooting war somewhere. We will be lucky if a coalition of Canada, Greenland, and Western Europe don't take us over.

The alternative is building a pipeline through Syria. Which is why Russia supported the Assad regime and why the West embraced Syrias new (former ISIS) leader. Assad wouldn't build a pipeline because it gave Russia leverage.
