Ex-Social Security Head Warns of 'System Collapse' as SSA Plans to Cut 7,000 Jobs

Yeah, we disagree.
Are we closer to a ground War today than 6 months ago?
I believe No. Six months ago, Russia was pretty confident in Biden's position, and nothing has changed since then except the body count. Putin was not concerned about a frail old man. Putin is a strong-man dictator. Oh, one major change: the President of the United States. I do not believe Putin is so sure what Trump will do.

Teddy and Franklin did not have the weapons and technology we have.

I have stated many times. I am anti-war, I believe in peace through strength, I think Trump is doing the correct thing in talking to all sides to try to end this. Do not confuse my anti-war stance with my unwillingness to fight. I consider myself an anti-war Hawk. Of course, we are probably talking about mutual destruction.

""80% of your experienced and trained bad dog bud's will go down in a first attack,""

I will say, I am trying hard not to respond in a combative way to the tone of this.

""and then we will be totally screwed."" Then fight for yours or get your as* in the kitchen and make sandwiches.

Welp, got to head out to work for a change.
I am starting to wonder why any Cold War Era or Vietnam War Era veteran would consider President Trump to be a wise and prudent leader.

A lot of his actions and pronouncements seem to me to be working against what we worked for and some of our friends and family died for.

Ask some of your close friends that are Vets. I have many friends and family that are Veterans. We come in all stripes and political bent. I belong to a couple of VSOs, I do volunteer work with several.

Some are Wack a doodle screaming Liberals, Some are Wack a doodle MAGA. However, the majority are Republicans, I think. I don't ask because that is not what I value in them. However, it seems like many Left and Right were Pro Trump, after Obama, in 2016. Even more in 24. These are Vietnam and GWOT mostly. Your friends and associates may differ, as birds of a feather you know.

So, I am assuming you would not fight under Trump. Who would you fight under? Biden? Anyone? Or, no one?

Wait, you obediently backed a feeble old man that had to be lead on and off the stage. And expected him to be Commander and Chief for another four years? Then selected his DEI VP to replace him the last minute. No primary. And you are questioning our judgment?
You sheep put Trump in office. Do better.

Again,
So, I am assuming you would not fight under Trump. Who would you fight under? Biden? Anyone? Or, no one?

I have had no military training except: "Do what we say or you go to the brig".

If I was in, I expect i would have to follow the chain of command. I might try to learn something about what are illegal orders. I am young enough I did miss the last invasion of Mexico.

I would not sign up to invade Canada or Greenland under anyone.

If we were invaded I would probably have to run down to WalMart, buy a box of 22 Long Rifles -- if you can still buy such things -- put that ammo, a rain pancho, 1 change of underwear, three pairs of socks, and 2 boxes of food bars (That probably matches up to my life expectancy) in a messenger bag, don a Red Shirt, and a Red Jacket for good measure, figure out some kind of the rest of the clothing to wear, shoulder my 80? year old single action 22 rifle, and head off to the tick infested woods to meet my destiny.

The big question would be whether to wear the red shirt with the three stooges on the front or leave it for posterity.

I can't even cook a chicken, but if I also tossed in a spare pair of reading glasses, my boy scout pocket knife -- or a substitute, my boy scout cook kit, a copy of JackKnife Cookery and a Boy Scout field manual if I could find one quickly in a used book store; I might be lucky enough to smear some mud on my red jacket and pull KP instead of front line duty. That would have its challenges too though because there would not be one of those abrasive barrels to peel the potatoes.

Yeah, I am sure you would drive them batshit crazy.

Just sit over there out of the way. A couple of sandwiches would be nice, thanks.
Rye and Peanut Butter is all we have in stock today.

Backordered Plum Jam may show up next week.

Social Security beneficiaries "already have had to contend with delays accessing service, both on the agency's 1-800 line and in person at SSA field offices, thanks to chronic underfunding from the U.S. Congress," Max Richtman, president and CEO of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, told ThinkAdvisor Monday.

"Former Commissioner Martin O'Malley led a concerted effort to improve customer service and made admirable strides in this direction," Richtman continued. "But Congress' refusal to properly fund the agency, along with needless interference by Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and DOGE, have resulted in the closure of field offices that service the public. Many seniors and people with disabilities need access to in-person help at these field offices; closing them only causes additional delays, inconvenience, and financial stress for claimants and beneficiaries."

Added Richtman: "We agree with former Commissioner O'Malley that the radical interference of Trump, Musk, and DOGE in the workings of SSA could break the system, putting the delivery of benefits to 70 million Americans in jeopardy."
There may be some short-term pain but in the long term it will be much more efficient. It is really been bad over the last 12 months getting Medicare numbers for clients...even getting in to see anybody that's Social Security office to enroll in Medicare hopefully they can modernize the system and bring it into the 21st century
