Final House Vote on Devastating Health and Food Assistance Cuts

Not sure about lis but the millions of maga supporters who don't watch or believe any news source other than Fox and whatever gibberish that spills out of trumps pie hole are not going to believe their medicaid is being cut i until they see it with their own eyes.
And they are not going to see it until after the midterms.

is that ssbci verification for dsnp a done deal for sure? I have about 22% dsnp and i am not going to kill myself trying to retain them because i am at the point where i can retire well just on my investments alone so i can afford to just let my Big Beautiful BOB just fizzle out . Plus i am starting medicare in jan so that's another 680.00 commish right there! lol
Yes it's done deal . I'm going to do what you're doing . I'm going to let my dsnp book start fizzling . Way too much work and there future on Medicaid looks bleak . I'll replace the lost ones with regular people

President Trump keeps stacking wins.
Egg prices down 🥚
Gas prices down ⛽
Interest rates easing 📉
Stock market hitting record highs 📈
The economy? Rolling like a freight train 🚂

Add in strong consumer confidence, a booming energy sector, and tariffs that are shaking up global trade — and you've got a recipe for momentum. Whether you're at the grocery store, the pump, or watching your portfolio climb, it's clear: something's working.

What u didnt mention was how many millions of people are going to lose ACA subsidies with no alternative coverages. How many medicaid recepients lose SNAP and health care. The price of eggs is far down the list of priorities for most lower income Americans.

This is a primarily a insurance blog right? 🤮

MAGA cult gonna do what cultists do. Sad how this forum has degraded since the first Trump term. This forum pre-2016 is an insurance forum, and post-2016 election it is an unthinking MAGA forum.

As usual, Trump is borrowing from future generations in the form of national debt. He'll be long gone when its time to pay the piper.

It was 7 months ago when you were bragging on the stock market, at that time the jobs market was in decline, the border was wide open, men were beating the hell out of women in women's sports, but now you say the market is not helpthe working class! 🤪🤪🤪

Yeah that 20 men in woman college sports was major major issue which could have ended democracy .MAGA GOP mothership got maga minions looking at shiny objects while they pull the rug from underneath them.

Harmful? Work requirement is for able bodied folks. There are exceptions for disability, taking care of dependents,

etc.eliminating access for many lawfully present immigrants

LEGAL foreign nationals can still qualify for Medicaid.

To qualify for Medicaid, a non-citizen must typically have a "qualified" immigration status, such as being a lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, and meet other eligibility criteria like income and state residency requirements. Many qualified non-citizens also face a five-year waiting period after obtaining their qualifying status before becoming eligible for Medicaid.

stripping coverage away from current enrollees
Not if they are LEGALLY eligible for Medicare

Medicare Rights Center is a left of center 501c3 organization that markets themselves as a helping organizatioin. This hit piece is definitely leaning left and ignoring the facts.

One of the issues around here is that 2/3 of the greater metropolitan area has no public transportation. None of the outlying rural areas do (areas where people commute to the various "suburb cities" for work - often 20+ miles one way). If someone doesn't have a car and can't afford to get one because they have no job and can't get to a job because they have no car (uber is too expensive and ride sharing isn't always available)... exactly what are they supposed to do? Having their health care and SNAP cut off doesn't help the situation (although here you have to work to get health care and as a non senior or non disabled adult to get SNAP anyway so that part of the bill won't change anything here except for those 55-64 who now will have one too, but it will for much of the country).

If someone was working and had to stop due to major health issues, their cobra ran out if they had that, or with ACA now their income was too low but can't for the moment work due to a major illness... then what do they do? Clearly if they were working before they got sick, say cancer, and couldn't work during treatment, the odds of them returning to work would be pretty high once they were well again because they were working before the health disaster. No health insurance now due to no job may well equal death.

Incidentally that is how I lost all my savings and retirement funds (cancers 2&3 in one year). Good thing I had them to pay for health care or I'd be dead (this state did not expand medicaid and has a work requirement for receiving it) but my life financially is now permanently and drastically changed for the worse. I also relied on SNAP when I lost my job. Fortunately that had no work requirement due to my age (it would have had for me under the new law).

I could have ended up homeless on top of that except I managed to get into HUD back then (that was a fluke with someone I had significantly helped in the past, um, bending the rules as usually there is very long wait). I didn't qualify as disabled under the SS rules, not to mention even if you likely do qualify, but you don't qualify to be fast tracked, that takes a lot of time to get, often involving being rejected the first time you apply, needing to appeal, etc which can take several years (and likely now longer with the purge of SS employees) so that was out.

There are going to be others, through no fault of their own, and regardless of their efforts to comply who won't be able to and will have no health care, no food... nothing. There are no exceptions for these people in that bill and in my opinion there needs to be. And, in my opinion, the transportation realities in some areas needs addressed in conjunction with this bill.
