Future with ACA ... Do agents have a place?

Hi Friends,

What's the status with ACA plans for agents?--- Last I heard, if a prospect wants to change plans, or qualifies for a change, they must do a 3 way phone call with ACA in DC ? --- Apparently, this is a 'Reaction to Illegal Switching' of clients (to new agents) without their knowledge or consent.:chatterbox:

  • What's been done about this... is there any hope for Agents working with ACA plans?
Thoughts/ Comments?

Thanks for the input...!

Yes, there were agencies pushing AOR changes combined with bait-and-switch advertising, and we have them to thank for the mess we're in with CMS.

If there was a previous agent, it does take a 3-way call or you can send a resume link for the client to approve that way. A client without a previous agent can just be enrolled.

Used to be we had to stay up late on the last night of the month to keep clients from being stolen. Insurance is a profession, but that was not! AOR swaps and plan changes were made left and right!

Glad that part is gone and hopefully the bad actors who caused it...

Depends on the kind of agent. If it's an agent in a call center being fed leads, it's a bad time. If it's a local agent that has relationships with their clients, they will be fine. Just takes some extra time for a new client if they have an existing app. No changes for someone who is already in your BoB

Have you tried it... you've done the 3 way call with 'HEALTHCARE.GOV' ???

I just warn people about the really loud hold music and the fun time we'll have with the random human at healthcare.gov.

Do fill out the application and get to the point where you're told you need to do the 3-way or the resume link, and it's not a big deal for the healthcare.gov rep to complete it with you and your client.

If you don't think Trump who dispises Obamacare doesn't have him and his republican boys gut Aca you need some mental health . Anything Trump dislikes he destroys. There's so much fraud in Aca it's really amazing. I bet 30% of the people on Aca don't even have jobs

The problem is 'What would he replace it with?'

The back-lash on both sides would HUGE.
