How Much of Your Book Do You Lose During AEP.

Last AEP, I only lost about 5. One of those was because his doc was dropping the MA that I put him on and he didn't disclose that he had recently obtained Medicaid in addition to his Medicare.
Sadly, this AEP IS looking different. I think that I'll end up losing 10-12, even after working nonstop. One of my MAs (Aetna) is doing us the "favor" of increasing PCP copayment from $5 to $20 and doubling hospital from $150/d to $289/d!! This makes it hard to contact all of the affected ppl, especially since some have changed their cell phone numbers, some don't answer the phone and some just apathetic as he'll. Some have called to tell me that they'd call me later, only to enroll with someone else;(. I've proactively mailed postcards to those who have changed their cell numbers and reminders to let them know that I'm avbl. Some do respond and give me their current info. Some do not. I attempt to call a daughter or son when I have those numbers avbl. Even that didn't work in one case where I thought it would.
What do some of you do to keep your Book from cockroaching away from you?

If you have a fairly large book of business I have come to the conclusion that it is more productive not to call all your clients in AEP ,unless there is a plan termination or other issues with the clients plan that needs immediate attention, and instead focus on adding more new clients.

It seemed to stir up a lot of extra work for no additional benefit for me when I use to call all my clients in AEP and of course you also run the risk of getting trapped on a hour long phone conversations that accomplish absolutely nothing with the chatty kattys of the senior world - which is about 1 out of 5 of my clients.

You have a good point. I haven't called too many of my Humana book because that one has proved to be very stable this time around. There is a lot of disruption for me in this AEP. IM doing the best that I can, but trying to recognize what I can do better. One thing that I started doing is to remind them that they can call me before Dec 7 th if they "change their mind". This either gets a response that they definitely won't change their mind or gives me a second nod if they change their mind.

Had to move more than 150 MAPD whose $0 premium is going to $90. Lost 7 of those I couldn't get to fast enough. No other losses I know of yet, so less than 1% loss. Thought it might be more given the upheaval in plan changes, but new clients grew by many times the 7, so a good, though exhausting, AEP.

I added 114 new, no time to call the entire book, mailed a letter at the beginning of aep stating they can call to discuss other options or keep their current plan.

Other than a handful of folks who have passed, I only know of 1 so far that I have lost. So less than 1%, and I have added many more to make up for it.
