They have to be AARP members to enroll, but after one year, they don't have to renew their membership to keep their policy.

Actually if you notice United healthcare is not listed in the lawsuit for kickbacks to brokers and for good reason . I've done massive apps with United for 5 yrs and have asked for marketing money at least 10 times and never got 1 penny . Fmo's always have said they give little to them either . The reason why United was the biggest by far and agents needed them . They didn't have to have the best benefits or be bribed with marketing money for agents to sell them . Personally I've always like United the best as far as speed of apps being approved and the fewest client issues . And I've seen by far the greatest loyalty toward United with members
Well that is a Billion UHC could save right there. Especially if UHC stops caring about there medicare business.
Except that 4.95% paid is added on to the premiums of the people who buy their products so it isn't a savings per say if they cut the cord.Well that is a Billion UHC could save right there. Especially if UHC stops caring about there medicare business.
I never thought about how UHC is damaging AARP's reputation. I wonder how much longer that relationship will last.
I have sold United healthcare all over this country, probably 2000 plans. I have never once had a client say, "Ooo AARP is the sponser? I want that".it would take more than this to end one of the most if not the most successful marketing arrangements in US business history. No way in hell is AARP going to give up all those royalties they get from UHC massive membership in medicare health plans. Who would they replace it with Humana? Aetna? Wellcare?
Bitching on threads in the AARP forums though indicates that it does influence some people in their choices and then they are ticked that AARP has a hands off approach to what UHC does. Hello AARP folks, AAPR is just following their company's financial interests (the royalties go into their for profit arm and their membership income goes into their non-profit arm).I have sold United healthcare all over this country, probably 2000 plans. I have never once had a client say, "Ooo AARP is the sponser? I want that".

I should have expanded on this . Yes they said like you said if I did seminars or tables they'd pay 1/2 . #1 I don't do those and I'm used to get 100% paid stuff not shared co op . Let me also say it also depends on the state with United and Aetena . United regional in my friends state said based on my apps in his stated he'd have given me $20 k .If you want money from them, you have to talk to the local broker manager for EDC agents. I have talked to them about it, they do give marketing support, but they follow the rules about it. I haven't asked for it, because I don't market in a way that they would pay. Such as a booth at a fair. They will share the cost with you.
It's a decent point. Interesting that UHC replaced silversnkears with their own product (renew active), which saved them money. I wonder how often they talk about making their own AARP...
Contained therein: "[T]hree of the largest U. S. health insurers [are accused] of paying hundreds of millions of dollars in kickbacks to brokers."
How'd I miss these "kickbacks?" Where do I sign up? Is it too late?
