Is Final Expense a Ripoff?

Kept opening this post waiting on you to respond LOL! I knew it was coming. I couldn't respond since I'm not intelligent enough for him.

Anybody that thinks that FE covers a "want" and not a "need" as he said is lacking in common sense education no matter how many degrees they have.

I have found that everyday folks that we deal with all buy what they want to buy. If they want a cremation plan, they buy it. If they want a traditional funeral, they plan for it. They see the value in a Final Expense plan for x dollars a month, and they set aside the money for the premium to be drafted each month. They simply want what the plan does for them, which is the "Peace of mind" of knowing that their loved ones will not be left with the bill. They want the dignity of being put away the way they want to be put away. And while alive, they will buy other things they want such as a better vehicle, their smokes, lottery tickets and dog and cat food for all their critters. And maybe even a tatoo or two. We as agents, are not in any way ripping them off with expensive final expense....smaller life insurance policies. We are providing a valuable service for folks who otherwise would not have the money to bury their family members. That is the bottom line. If anyone here on the forum disagrees with this, perhaps this is the wrong market for you. You might feel like you are providing a better service by selling Key person insurance to some business man or woman, or some other need that life Insurance fits. And that is okay. Go for it.

I'm surprised that he hasn't quoted Shakespeare yet.:)

You mean something along the line of, "Who knows himself a braggart, let him fear this, for it will come to pass that every braggart shall be found an ass." ― William Shakespeare, The Complete Works, when it comes to always trying to impress others with your "intelligence"? :)

They could buy a $10,000 policy, tell family to cremate them for $899 and split the remaining money amongst themselves.

There's no such thing as a $899 cremation in this area. So by the time the family paid for shipping to where those are it would be quite costly.

But that's a moot point to this discussion. The people responding negatively to FE just have no clue about the FE market or how an FE agent works.

If one thinks that FE agents are pushing FE on people that have better options then they would right and it's a rip off.

Personally I find their WHY and then offer solutions for that WHY. If FU or term is the solution then that's what I offer. But since I'm seeing the 1%'ers that mailed in an FE reply card then FE is going to be the solution most of the time.

I don't know of any long term successful FE agent that doesn't work with the same premise. Some people are just far too educated and pompous to ever understand that concept.

There are no funeral plans that are less expensive than FE in KY? No Trident or Nautilus or similar services?

Some people are just far too educated and pompous to ever understand that concept.

I sincerely doubt that is the case in your area.

While doing research on the fe market before I started, I also pondered these questions, after working it a couple of months, you see you are helping these people, all these types of questions fall away, like you see from the answers of the rest of forum members.
