Wow from a 5% penetration in 2006 to 30% currently I would say MA is trending. Also a proportionally higher percentage of the older and sicker beneficiaries are the ones choosing to stay on original Medicare and since Medicare doesn't case manage the chronically ill /high utilizers to keep cost down like MA plans do the cost to cover these folks could start to spiral up leading to an even higher rate of migration from Medicare to MA in the future.
