UShealth Group has a plan that is an HSA but limits the Kemo and Radiation to an amount that is between 15k...and 75k.

Is this enough coverage for someone....or is this something that may bite them in the future?

I know that there is a PPO price schedule...and this may be sufficient to cover this but...not sure about this.

This plan is called the Medestential HSA...and is much cheaper than competiting plans.

Cheaper means the plan will bite you at some point.

Carriers develop these kind of plans because they know consumers are stupid and have the mindset (if they even bother to READ the policy) that will never happen to them.

The big thing with me are plans that set artificial limits on treatment and those that do not cover brand Rx.

Buying these kind of plans is like buying an auto policy that pays unless you wreck your car on Saturday or Wednesday.

Just to let you know, a chemo cap can really be devastating. On average, chemo costs $11,000 per treatment. Times that by 6 weeks or more and a client can reach a cap quite quickly. I have heard of chemo costing $20,000 per treatment.

I am not familiar with that plan specifically, but I can tell you that I have a small group client who underwent Cemo therapy for breast cancer. She required treatment once per month for 12 months. Grand Total- $120,000 or $10,000 per treatment! WHOA
