MAPD Election Period

I have a client who lost her Part B in December 2024 due to nonpayment and then got it back in February 2025. She had an MAPD plan - but lost it when she lost Part B. Now she has Part B back and wants to re-enroll in a MAPD plan. I don't see an election period that fits this situation. I don't think OEP will work because she doesn't currently have a MAPD plan. Does anyone know which election period will work?

I've always used icep with different A and b like the orginal posters example . But you used to have to use before part b became effective like write it in Jan for feb as part b effective then . Did they change the rules in 2025 were you have a 2 month grace period past your part b effective date ?

They did change the rule effective Jan 2025

Was the Part B reinstated w/o lapse? If so, she needs to contact the plan to request reinstatement.

The way I read the OP's post is that she lost her part B for non payment and reapplied. Didn't see anything about a reinstatement although she could have done either one.

If she reapplied, she gets a new part B effective date, and with OM, a new red white and blue card. She'd get that anyway because she no longer has an MAPD.

Since Medicare revolves around your part B date, it's almost like getting your virginity back. You get a complete do-over. She can apply for a supplement without health questions or an MAPD without any silly SEPs.

She may be hit with a LEP and any claims incurred during the lapse won't be paid.
