It looks like it will be another good year for the Blue Chip company as it plans to keep the dividend interest rate the same as last year, although it will pay $92 million more in total dividends to policy holders.

Actually they had for 2014 a good comparison sheet for UL and it ranked really well. They took it down so I can't say for 2015...

but I think I know where they get the money for the dividend payouts...have you looked at their annuity payouts??

I haven't, but it was an open secret not to sell their fixed annuities. There were all over variable annuities and riders before 2008. After that they knee-capped their riders and I doubt they sell little annuity business these days.

Except their retirement side. I seem to recall them having a separate division with different products to handle retirement plans for mid to large companies.

Not too long ago they acquired Hartfords qualified plan business which was mainly smaller (under 10mill) plans. So now they have pivoted and are going after new business in the small to mid market.
