NON AEP Seminar Not Successful

I have heard of some agents having success with these so I gave it a shot. We tried it with two local MAPD's because we have over a 40% penetration here and people tend to call about "free." Anyways we have had three separate dates and a terrible response. In one case we used a marketing firm to design a post card and the other we used anthems pre designed flier (I assumed it would be a bad idea). Here is our data so far:
1. Mailed 600 for two seminar dates (1 prospect called and showed) mailed 60 and 90 days out from T65
2. Mailed 575 to a different area (1) mailed all the way up to T65 December
3. Mailed 900 Anthem (0) mailed T65 30 60 90

So anyway I am letting you know that I have done the leg work and so far it looks like non-aep seminars are a BUST. I am going to focus my efforts on the internet going forward.

UHC has asked me a few times if I want to do an educational seminar for them. Id like to try it. But I want them to pay for it

There is a reason Ms. Hatch waits until AEP to conduct her seminars.

Here are a few things that I will throw out there, some might help, some probably won't.:

1. You didn't send enough mail. Even for Oct. 1, you did not send enough mail if that is the only thing getting butts in the seats.

2. Instead of doing direct mail, try finding organizations to host you that have a crowd of regulars that will promote the event for you. You can use mail to supplement if you like and can even offer to split the cost with the host.

3. You can't have one bad out of season seminar and just give up and go to the internet. That won't work the first time either.

I found that educational seminars are worthless, you cannot even hand out a business card so unless they ask you for something, you get nothing to work with.
