She is 58 Smoker only made about 15k in 2014 and will make about 25-30k in 2015.She didn't have any coverage for 2014 and now will be offered group from temp agency( over 200 employees ) she has been working for since March 2014 starting 1/1/15 .She says she hasn't received any written material about what she will be offered when group insurance starts 1/1/15 but said she thinks she will have to pay 20% of the group premium? Can she still opt for individual? Do subsidies apply for group plans?

I don't write ACA plans just trying to help her - at the very last minute.

No subsidies for her (if her group coverage is "affordable"......)

Does she still have to take the group if she isn't eligible for it until 1/1/15?

Knowing her she won't think her group premiums are " affordable" because she didn't think her subsidized 100.00 individual plan for 2014 was affordable enough to buy it - and to think these are the type of people that Obamacare was invented for.

Premiums have to be more than 9.5% of her income to be deemed unaffordable if I remember correctly.

She needs to go with her group plan with 1/1/15 effective date. Right now, even if she qualified for a subsidized O-Care policy, it won't be effective until 2/1/15.
Also, it looks like her income is doubling from 2014.
