Cigna: Blindsided, underwritten Med/Supp rookie mistake. Didn't ask what is the "one drug" client is on or what condition it is treating, before I did all the app work. All good for PDP, got all thru Med/Supp app, then went over it with the PV person, "OK, we will submit it". Then, when, JIC, I called the phone underwriting pre-screener, "Oh, no, we can't do anyone on Metformin.... Well, if the doctor explains the diagnosis, and that there are no other conditions, including RA, then we'll consider". Client says right out, it's a form of RA.

Should have done this more deliberately, was in a hurry. I got overly confident, due to client with medication managed A-fib being accepted by them recently.

Write this one off to experience? Or is there a carrier who might take polymalgia rheumatica managed/in remission on metformin?
The client is pretty ruffled, and is confused about how ever to count on an underwritten Med/Supp. I hate having my credibility in question. Would rather head these things off at the pass, like I learned to do long ago with life insurance underwriting.

Client signed a note withdrawing the med/supp app. We did write the RX plan. May not be much chance with this couple of trying again to help them save money. We were going to wait until later in 2015 when spouse's stent operation will be over 2 years ago to try for supp.

There's nothing left but: (stick with it)

Metformin is for diabetes and is very common, never heard of it being a problem. The RA can be. Try Equitable, they're usually more lenient than most.

----------

Equitable does not ask about RA or Metformin.

Hahaha, didn't see this until after I posted.

Great, and they are usually pretty competitive with rates, if not the lowest. They actually beat Cigna for one of my tobacco using clients, since T65 with them is issued without tobacco rate up. Thanks!

Equitable also has the 7% Household Discount. In Virginia, the spouse doesn't have to take it out for him to get the discount.
