Postponement on drug price negotiations

Yes there is a reason. A med supp doesn't have a drug benefit. I would have to get a separate drug plan and I haven't seen any that look good. Also, a med supp with my wife and I would cost approx $800 per month and I would have to buy a drug benefit in addition. I wouldn't help myself going to a med supp.

I have a MA plan with Aetna. Was satisfied with it until they withdrew the plan and I had to get another 1/1/25. I had to stay with Aetna but my drug cost are killing me and my wife. I was paying $54 for 30 day supply of Jardiance, it is now $102.00. My wife was prescribed an eye drop that was a $54.00 co pay but is now a $200.00 copay. I can't move to another company because I have to have a cystoscope every 90 days and my urologist isn't in the network for any company but Aetna. United Health Care and other companies are in the network for the urology clinic but not the surgical center. This makes no sense to me. The surgical center of my urologist has tried to get in UHC's network for years but UHC won't approve them because UHC is in network for our local hospital.
The surgical center won't accept UHC PPO (or any other plan) as an Out-of-Network option?

@ehall2 . . . Jardiance

Can't help you on the surgical center.

May be more intertwined than that. UHC/Optum owns OptumCare which in turn owns or operates hospitals and other providers.

Where are you that Med Supps are $400+ per month? I'm genuinely curious.

My guess would be south Florida. For someone in their 70's, (a plan G) that sounds about right.
I am also assuming he's in his 70's

I ran a quote using Palm Beach. An 80-year old male is $324 (same for female with Globe Life).

Medico would be $328.91 for the male and $286.01 for the female

While expensive, neither is $400 per month

He's down here close to me unless he moved to FL. Use zip 31707

Assuming he could get through underwriting...

Also in Florida 75% of the market is owned by AARP, FL Blue and Bankers Life. If someone were to get a medsupp quote in Florida, it would most likely be one of those carriers. Take a peek at those rates.

I'm not sure I have ever came across a Globe Life medsupp in 13 years, and only a couple times one with Medico (that I didn't write).

But as @rmhaire stated, the guy lives in Georgia

No underwriting. His MAPD was termed so he had a chance for a GI Med Supp. I simply asked him why he didn't go that route. He said Med Supp was $400 per month. That's why I asked what I did. If he's in Georgia, I'm calling BS on the $400 premium. It would be less than half that even at age 80.
