If you see 10 people, how many referrals do you come up with?

AG says I should be getting at least 3 referrals from every person that I sit with. They have a good training system to get those referrals, and I have gotten much better because of it. However, I'm still not getting 30 referrals from 10 appoitments. In 10 appointments, I might get 10-20 referrals.

Do you guys see 3 referrals from each person attainable?

In your opinion, how many referrals should one be expecting to get? Is there a point where you stop asking, "and who else" and "you also mentioned Sally, tell me about her" to keep from making the client feel like you are milking them?

It would seem like at a certain point you will be making the client feel more like you made them talk just to get names vs. to havea genuine conversation with them.

You get as many referrals as your client is comfortable giving....... anymore and you end up being like every other sales guy and look like a nagging wife. Instead of your managers telling you that you should get 3 from every source, which is the old sales methodology, find solace in the fact that you are getting referrals.

All a referral is is a name and number, unless their teaching you to have your clients call the prospective clients and let them know why you will be calling. People respect that approach vs. saying ,"who are 3 people you know that might benefit from talking with me?

What type of system do they have you use to generate referrals?

Thats nice to talk about, but reality is, you wont get that.

Referrals have to be earned. Sure, you can ask, and you should ask. Referrals will come when you have earned their trust.

Thats good. Especially if they turn in to at least 5 - 10 sales.

I get referrals. At least half (usually more) turn in to sales.

If you are getting referrals, but no sales, then the referrals are mostly worthless.

I can get lots of names, simply by asking. But the best referrals come unsolicited.

I get quite a few referrals from folks who never bought.
 
I buy names, telephone numbers and addressees on the cheap. To me a referral is when someone is sent to you unsolicited, asking for names isn't getting a referral nor should be consider a referral. I never ask, I really hate it when I buy something and someone wants names. It's like my business and dollars is not enough, now they want me to be an informant! If they ask me again after I say "No", I take my business elsewhere, seriously in the past I actually had sales people lose the sale becuase they thought I was kidding when I said no and for them not too ask again. It is funny too see their look when I get up and walk, like they thought I was kidding or something?

There are better ways to get referrals, as in good service! Follow-Up on the sale. I'll send a letter of thanks out, now I may ask (within the letter never in person) if they wish too have their aquaintences be sent information about the product but, in no way to I ever call or visit unless they respond to the information sent.

Word of mouth is great, let it happen don't think you can create it on your own mouth! :D
