Client signs up for Part B effective 7-1 under GEP. Their Part A is effective 11-1-13. No employer insurance. Do they have an SEP into MAPD? If so, which one?

He's been with part A only since 11-13

Print out your sep codes, put them in a 3 ring binder, print out the medicare and you book, put it in a 3 ring binder, study them front and back and you will have all the answers you need.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's an SEP. I believe you can use his ICEP.

See last box on page 3.

Also, here's a nifty little tool.

Initial Coverage Election Period (ICEP) and Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) Calculation Tool - Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

As mentioned, it's an ICEP 4/1 to 6/30.

Don't feel like looking this up to confirm 100% but pretty sure there isn't a SEP for PDP for GEP

I know there's an old thread somewhere about this, but here is the quote from CMS Chapter 3 for PDP enrollment.

6. SEP for Individuals Who Enroll in Part B during the Part B General Enrollment Period (GEP) – An SEP will be provided to individuals who are not entitled to premium free Part A and who enroll in Part B during the General Enrollment Period for Part B (January – March) for an effective date of July 1st. The SEP will begin April 1st and end June 30th, with an effective date of July 1st.

And no, I don't know why it specifies that a person has to be paying for Part A, but I can all but guarantee that a plan won't look into that.

it's a small niche that would qualify for that SEP.If you use the SEP knowing the person gets free part A like 99% do and CMS catches on you might get a call from the CMS Special Codes Unit .
