Social Security Administration offering voluntary buyouts ahead of "significant workforce reductions"

Just waiting for them to miss ss payments. So far this administration should be known as the f**k ups.

Not really - your anecdotal stories are pointless.

Let's see how you all react when Elon emails us asking us to justify our commissions

Anecdotal? Nah, you just don't have an answer. Our government is bloated and needs spending cuts. If you don't see that, you are blind. If it happens in the Medicare Advantage program, it won't be the first time. We had these plans (Medicare+Choice) in the late 90's and Clinton cut funding. The plans went away.

I'm about 65/35 Med Supp to MAPD. Sure. I'd take a cut in pay temporarily, but I'd survive.

It amazes me how hard some of you liberals will fight to keep the status quo. We're at about $6.8 trillion in spending which is nearly $2 trillion more than we bring in in tax revenue. In 2015, we were spending about $4.9 trillion which was still more than we were bringing in. It's not sustainable. We need cuts everywhere. Like it or not, that is what Trump is trying to do. And he has to do it quick. He has to rip the band aid off. There will be pain. But it's necessary. We are nearing the point of no return. If we ever lose the dollar as the world reserve currency, the US will no longer exist as we know it. I want better for my children and potential grandchildren. You should too.

Many of us are content because our income is sufficient where our lifestyles haven't changed. Over 80% of homeowners are below 6% interest so there is a big slowdown in housing and none of us with below 3% interest rates have any desire to sell or move. Add to that the inflationary prices and it's hard for the 20's and 30 somethings to buy a home. "Starter" homes going for $400k plus with 6-7% interest rates and the younger folks just can't do it.

If you don't want us to get on a better fiscal ground, I don't know what to tell you. We'll just have to agree to disagree and be on our way. No sense in going back and forth if you are "Trump is bad and everything he does is bad". If you are that guy, then you will filter everything through that lens and only see any potential bad in what he does. I can't help you with that. And let me be clear, I'm not a MAGA guy. I didn't vote for Trump in my states primary. I didn't think he could win the general election at that point. I've never donated to him. But at this point, he is the right guy for the job if we are going to ever get back on track. You don't have to agree ( I know you don't). But I can't imagine how much worse things would get with Biden or Kamala in office right now.

Compared to this chaos and lies that are just swallowed with a smile? It was paradise compared to this.

This thread is talking about federal employees be offered 10s of thousands of dollars as a buyout. Cash money. Under the current administration. In your paradise of the last administration how many private sector men and women lost jobs, forever, with no buyout? Oil workers told to learn code? Military? Small businesses closing doors forever. No buyouts. How many federal workers lost jobs? How many were sent home with full pay?

Someone had to pay for that paradise.

There is an oil worker who actually learned to code a little. I recommend everyone follow him. He decided to read all spending bills and post about where the money was going.
