Thoughts on American General?

Any thoughts on American General since they spun off from AIG and rebranded as Corebridge Financial?

I've had a fully underwritten term case pending since November.

Part of the reason for the delay was missing documents that have since been addressed.

Once an app has been submitted in good order, how much of a time frame are we looking at here for issuance?

Also, I just happened to look at the negative reviews on this company, and now I'm having second thoughts.

Maybe I should have submitted with Banner?

I'm not too worried about the customer services issues because I tell my clients to call me. I'll handle it.

But does this company pay their claims?

I issued 3 or 4 Corebridge Term and GULs in the last year. Average about $1.5M, Average age maybe a little higher than age 55. I think all but one was issued as applied or better.

The only hold ups were APSs and one drug questionnaire which they took as an email.

I do not remember the average turnaround, maybe 45 - 60 days. Including exams. Not bad.

I personally will write them again.

Claims - I have never had a claim denied by them.

Ive only had positive experiences with Corebridge/AIG.

You can find complaints against any insurer.

Id personally much rather have a Corebridge policy vs. a sh*tty Banner policy.

If your case has been pending since Nov. They are waiting for some type of info that has not been provided yet.

This could also be an issue with your upline not providing timely updates to you, or accurately providing your responses to Corebridge.

I guarantee you it has not taken Corebridge 3 months to approve if they had all the required info.

Have you gone onto the Agent Portal and looked at the Outstanding Requirements for the case? That will give you the answers you seek.

First underwritten case. So Corbridge is better than Banner? Good to know! Yeah, it was a form that I had to resubmit several times that held it up. The first one the insured wet signed and scanned back to me, but it was missing the bar code and form number at the bottom. The second form I submitted they rejected because Adobe Sign apparently isn't a approved e-sign vendor. Third form submitted was DocuSigned. Hopefully everything is in good order now. Fingers crossed!

Better is a relative term. Higher quality, in my opinion yes.

Corebridge has better conversion options. So it gives the client more options in the future.

You are likely referring to the Health Authorization form the Insureds Doctor requires. Many have their own specific form and will not accept the generic form in the app. And most want a handwritten wet signature, its a pain when that happens.

We have all had those issues.
OK, maybe not the other guys. I have definitely had those. I try to remember to get all four edges in the scan now.

Depending on if your IMO has a good case manager or not you'll want to check the portal regularly. Some case managers are on it very quickly and may take care of the issue. Others only send you a report weekly, like on a Friday afternoon when it is to late to do anything.

You do a lot of term . My son's wife wants $500k of 30 yr level ins. She talked to State Farm and there pitching her on a rop $250 k plan for $87 a month . I can get her $500k for about $45 a month 30 yr level . She's in perfect health outside being overweight . Maybe 5-5 190-210 lbs . She just had a full physical with blood . Won't a carrier pull her records and results from the dr with no paramed? What carriers will do this ?

I'm focused on home service (debit) and final expense. So I only occasionally write a fully underwritten term policy. American General is the only term company I've used for several years. I used to be an AIG/AGLA employee. For simplicity's sake, I've just continued to use them. No problems, other than the normal stuff that happens with FU cases.

I do some.

Reverse engineering, she is around 35ish? Are you quoting her Preferred? With build, 190-210#s, I would quote STD or Std+ and if all comes out better, it's a win. That does not look like ROPTerm premium @$500,000. WP at that age would be very reasonable as well. And may be more of a risk than death.

AIG, PacLife, Pru would be were I would start.

I don't have my laptop at the moment.

Go to term4sale.com they also have a health analyzer where you can add any issues, build and such to give you an idea as to ratings.

No one does exams anymore on younger people.

Banner will go to 4m with no exam, and most carriers will go to 1m without one as well.

If a paramed is required they often can't use your doctor labs because they'll test for things your doctor won't like HIV, nicotine, etc.
