When client's letter from HR is rec'd. is it necessary to indicate if loss is a result of voluntary loss of benefits or involuntary for GI med supp.??
I have only noted date of termination of coverage but this could be a problem if the SEP for Jan.1 is not available for whatever reason the group plan is not.
Is this relevant?
Under any other situation if client opted to drop group for MSupp she is not insurable.

Nothing is compelling HR to complete this letter timely. and now I wonder what info will be disclosed that may disqualify client.:nah:

Running out of time... Thanks for any help.

Depends on carrier and state. Some companies will just take a hand written attestation from the client and a copy of their retiree card.

I had one where we pressed the point, and the carrier went ahead and issued the policy. They had set a deadline, and the group plan was foot dragging with letter of cancellation.
More carriers than I thought will take voluntary dropping out of retiree Medicare coverage. It can get pretty pricey years down the road.

I had MoO decline a client since his coverage was dropped voluntarily. His wife was approved because she lost group coverage involuntarily (his dropping). He was retiring at age 68, had Part B for 3 years when he came to me. We had to use a higher priced carrier that did not care if it was voluntary or not. Depends with each carrier. Good luck!
