What carriers will change a smoker rate to non smoker if insured goes 12 months smokefree?

can't you just go back and rewrite them with a different company if they quit smoking for 12 mos. or is that churning?

Might be his only option to try this as there is no way to prove it with FE products. On fully underwritten, you can take a new blood test.

I know I've used saliva swabs with Americo before on some of their products.....is that what they're going to need to be able to offer non-tobacco? Can't imagine them just taking anyone's word for it.

Not specific to FE but I have had companies just require anything from a note, a form or a urine test. Some at insureds cost. Some do not change to smoker. Some underwrite for other issues. So a client could now be a non smoker but had cancer recently and the company will not approve the change to non smoker.

That and what a company allows today does not mean they will allow it tomorrow.

I'm thinking it would just simplify things greatly to write another company.

I'm sure we've all told this to people who smoke, and say that they are going to quit. in a year we can just re-underwrite you....but how many of these people actually quit. let's be honest.

You're gonna have to submit a replacement- and if the carrier finds out you replaced their business they'll terminate you...
