On 10/24 I started my day with a pain in my back and a routine dermatology exam.

After leaving that doctor the pain was worse so I made an 11:30 appointment with a nearby urgent care center. The examination and specimen confirmed my suspicion . . . a possible kidney stone . . . so off to the imaging center (across the lobby) for a STAT CT scan.

Scan and results completed by 2 pm and a bonus urgent exam scheduled with a urologist consult at 3PM, finished by 4:00 and sent on my way with a new Rx and scheduled follow up ultrasound for the following week.

While I never want another day like this, I was amazed at how quickly I was examined by 4 docs, lab work completed, CT performed and read by a radiologist . . . and never once had a prior authorization nor a copay.

Try that with an MAPD . . .

This shows 100% you know nothing about MA plans. Anything urgent or emergency does not require PA and referrals are not needed to see a specialist on any plan I sell. Only difference if you would have been on MA is you would have had around 250.00 of copays and you would have better drug coverage when you filled your prescription. Nice try with the scare tactics.

Wait why are they putting you off until next week for an ultrasound? Unless they think you can pass it. Everyone I know that had a kidney stone had an Ultrasound that day.

The CT confirmed the stone, size and location.

The ultrasound was in case the stone didn't vacate my ureter on its' own. But since it did leave the ultrasound was cancelled.

Weird, I had a customer who has an MAPD recently tell me a very similar story. Except the medical tests was beer, and the doctors were bars...
