I need something that shows the avg cost of a funeral these days. PDF format would be nice. Not something you made up, but from a good source or something.

Seems like the prices goes up every year.

What do you think the avg cost of a funeral is these days.

I'm talking about everything from the plot, flowers to the preacher.

I would say with everything included, 10k is avg.

How much would you say it cost these days.

Has Google blocked you from performing searches?

Yes, he was flagged as an abuser. So far Sti is still letting him ask us instead.

Rick knows the answer but he is not telling.

I need a few different sources on this to show that the prices didnt just come from one source that these are avg prices..

So....hop on Google and get a few different sources. I mean, wow. Hey, I have a few projects I'm working on and also need some research done. I'll send a few your way today. Get it all back to me by 4pm and make sure it's in the proper format. Sorry, no compensation. I'm a bit busy or I'd do it myself.

Here's a Google search tip. If you only want pdf files in your results then at the end of the keyword phrase type :pdf. For example: average funeral costs: pdf - then it only pulls up PDF files in the results.

Why not call three local funeral homes and get a price sheet? Who cares what it is nationwide, what is it in the prospect's hometown.

Mark, you are all over the board with this question.

Flowers, clergy and and a cemetery space are NOT part of funeral costs. So the official answer will NOT reflect these things.

The average cost of a funeral ONLY includes these items: Basic services of funeral home, local removal of remains, embalming, other prep, visitation, funeral ceremony, hearse, escort to cemetery, remembrance merchandise (register book, memorial folders, etc.) and casket. That's it for the official version.

In reality most people already have a cemetery space but need the following items in addition to the funeral:
Grave liner or burial vault if required by the cemetery (for ground burial only/not mausoleum), clergy honorium, musicians honorium, cemetery service fee (aka: grave opening/closing fee) crematory fee (if having funeral followed by cremation), flowers, cemetery monument (or death date installed if there is an existing monument), certified death certificates.

In reality when you add ALL these things that most people think of as the TOTAL funeral cost you are looking at a range of $7,000 to $12,000 being what most people are spending these days. This is assuming that they already own a cemetery space. If not that will be around $800 to $1,500 additional.

In addition to all of this, families take time off from work, stay in hotels, travel, eat in restaurants, buy new suits and outfits, etc. so if they are buying final expense insurance to protect their kids from all the expenses I would always recommend a minimum of $15,000 at today's cost.

In addition to that you have to figure in inflation. If you assume 3.5% average annual inflation and assume just $10,000 today that will be:
$14,105 in 10-years
$19,897 in 20-years
$28,067 in 30-years
$39,592 in 40-years
Never make the mistake of thinking that everyone dies at the average age of 80 (or whatever they say today.) There are MANY people who live into their 90s and a few over 100. I have sold single pay funeral trusts to 3-people this week that are all over 90 and all live independently and are healthy.

You're missing the point Vol - Mark's quite busy today and need you to do his research.

Well, it was good for something. I decided to follow my own advice and get the price list from three funeral homes. Getting asked a lot about FE policies lately. I might as well know the costs.
