Wow, this is the guy Montana elected as Senator. He's also the guy in charge of healthcare reform. Scarry stuff.

Baucus and Ted Kennedy always got along pretty well. At least we know what they had in common.

Once again he is chastising the Republicans because the dems failure to get their own dems on board.

Also, it is kind of funny because they are trying their damnest to declare victory (along with people like Al) but all you hear is this constant whining (Baucus being a clear example) to justify why they ended out with a piss poor bill. Worse yet, the House has not even had at it yet, and possiblly even for worse for them, it is still possible that it will not pass. Or more likely that it could just sort of drag on and get amended and butchered for months to come to the point where who knows what you have and dont have and when the process began and when it ended.

These dems are declaring victory only because Obama needs one. If you listen to them they have already stared explaining away their failure. Does Baucas sound like he is getting ready for a ticker tape parade? I dont think so. He has been drinking either from the stress or to celebrate. You decide which is more likely?

Long term they have a good victory though. The big step is to federalize national health care which has already been done even if this bill does not pass. That is all a socialist government needs to do- just get jurisdiction over it. Time will take care of the rest.
