Does anyone have experience with the liability exposures involving church security, or if an event happened?

Would it fall under the General Liability and would the security team fall under D&O on the professional side?

We have had increasing incidents it seems in Texas and just wanted to see.

Not a P&C agent but handled our church coverage for several years as trustee. Here are the coverages we had at that time:
- General Liability + Umbrella for additional limits
- Endorsement for sexual harassment and molestation
- Directors and Officers
- Property on 2 buildings for fire, wind, water, earthquake, etc.

Only odd claim: Our education/community building moved plumbing lines to overhead, after failure of pipes in the slab foundation. Our insurance company paid for that damage, no problem. All was fine until new trustees took over and failed to follow maintenance requirements to keep them from freezing in a severe cold snap. Insurance company tried to deny payment entirely. They pointed fingers at the architect, the construction company, the plumbing installers, our trustees. It was quite expensive as the rupture probably was late on a Friday night, not discovered until the next day. After months back and forth, the insurance company agreed to pay some water damage for flooring and carpets, but not to repair and upgrade the system.

Institutional knowledge / continuity of management is at risk for organizations relying heavily on volunteers. We left 3-ring binders for the new trustees on everything including protecting pipes from freezing. Some church members pushed to sue the architect and plumbers but the risks of pipes in the ceiling was clearly disclosed.
