I had a prospective client call me this morning with a situation that I don't know the answer. She is 63, divorced with coverage through her ex husband's employer.
She divorced about 3 years ago and is under the assumption that there is a MO specific law that allows anyone who divorces over the age of 55 to continue their COBRA coverage until age 65 (not the 36 months).
Anyone hear of this or have something in writing confirming it? I've never seen this before as COBRA has only been a temporary solution of 18 or 36 months. She is paying about $600/mo and is not subsidy eligible so it might not be that bad of a plan if she can keep it until age 65.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
