Digital Signature Capture

I'm trying to go paperless with my business. I want to start filling out PDF Applications. I can go through the whole application by typing in each required area. However I want to find out how people are dealing with capturing the client's signature onto the laptop.

I am not using a tablet PC... just a regular laptop. What software would you need? What would be the best writing/signature pad to use?

I don't own a tablet pc or one of those nifty IPAD's....but there are programs (NitroPDF) that allow you to fill out a PDF form and you can purchase a digital signature pad to sign the app for f2f sales.

Some of this will depend on what your carriers will accept.
Personally, because it allows me to do face to face or via email signatures, I use docusign (docusign.com). Echosign (echosign.com) is a little cheaper, I just like the flow better with docusign.

Ok, so you do this for paper apps, what carriers accept an Esign instead of a wet sig?

Interestingly enough, digital signatures (done properly) will hold up in court. e-sigs have become law. Carriers who don't accept them (which is probably the majority) are behind the times, but it is changing.

E-sigs have audit trails. Unless a wet signature is notarized, there is little proof who actually signed the document. I'm surprised more carriers aren't moving faster to e-sig acceptance.

They are getting there. I now have carriers that will process claims (P&C) on e-sigs, which is way cool. I thought this would be the last thing to happen.

I think my main concern is what signature pad would work with the PDF apps to capture the signature digitally and which program would be the best to do this....

I really want to do paperless on the field... sometimes its a pain to find out that you are missing a form but have it on your computer and have no printer to print on.

I don't have a tablet PC, but just looking for a signature pad solution that works well with certain pdf editing program...

I love nitro pdf, for filling out a pdf.
