Sterling Investors Life Aquisition Company.
Stephen Hilbert who built Conseco from the ground up is trying to do it again.
He's just raised $59 million from private equity in March and June of this year.

you say he was involved in the building up of Conseco, but you dont mention that he was also credited with extracting alot of cash out of Conseco before it went bankrupt. If I recall, he was blamed for the bankruptcy because Conseco went high risk by aquiring the high risk lender Green Tree that was a big lender in the mobile home marketpalce.
I remember at the time it was like the 2nd or 3rd biggest bankruptcy rivaling the Worldcom bankruptcy

I believe SILAC has been around for 5 years or so. not sure doing what

What would happen to Equitable's LTC has been a big concern of mine since SILAC took over. It is has become apparent they are using the same playbook to try to abandon and jetison liability for the health block.

Speaking of Equitable (Medigap), had a call from a client placed with Eq 4 years ago. She had a claim question, called the number on the EOB and got a recording that it was out of service. When she wasn't getting anywhere she called and left a message.

I logged in to the Equilife site only to discover her policy had lapsed in May. No claims paid since April.

When we finally connected she was shocked to hear her policy had lapsed. They took the July premium out of her bank but too early for the August premium.

She no longer get's an EOB, only a post card letting her know they have received her claim.

WTF?

She is sending me copies of her MSN, EOB and post card along with a recent bank statement.

Is anyone else having this kind of crap?

It's a dumpster fire . They have some TPA on the East Coast who has horrible reviews.
I'm afraid it only going to get worse.
