Firm Names

I'm looking to brand and name my financial services practice. I'm looking for name ideas... good ones you've seen or yours (might trigger an idea). Looking for something edgy and out there as opposed to the traditional ...

Thx.

I understand your desire to be edgy, creative and different... but with insurance and financial services I think simple is better and I think putting your name on the company says something about your dedication and willingness to stand behind your work product. Just my 02 cents.

Good point. And taken.

I understand what you are saying. however, You need to factor in the :Moron Factor" Now you may not want to market to Morons, but a lot of Morons do not know that they are Morons or do not want to admit that they are Morons or were raised by Morons.

Example of names that could represent the best agencies in the country. But would not pass the Moron muster:

Juan Gonzalez Insurance
Mohammed Insurance
Jamil Jackson Insurance
Billy Ray McCoy Insurance

Just my 2 cents.

You covered it when you said I didn't want to market to morons. The best agencies in the country typically are named after the founders... Willis, Marsh, Lockton, etc.

Like I said... it was just my opinion but I find a firm named after the owner to be more credible than Cheap Insurance, Cost U Less Insurance, Next Level Insurance, Big Savings Insurance, Big Daddy's Insurance, Big Dan's Insurance, MVP Insurance, Freeway Insurance, Titan Insurance, etc. These are all examples from my area. If I was selling non standard auto... a catchy name would make sense but that isn't my target market.

How about " Free Money For Dummies Incredible Piles-O-Cash Shop"...where the most intelligent come for their financial services

Agents/brokers spend WAY too much time thinking about this sort of thing: designing websites, thinking of names, what type of entity to set up etc etc.

Unless you are going to spend thousands of dollars on marketing and promoting your brand, no one is going to remember it anyway.

In the ten years I have been in this business, nothing works better than 'this is John Smith and the reason for my call is.......'

I am not trying to rain on your parade, just my 2 dollars worth.

While I agree that few of those things affect the top line, which is the most important aspect of any business... entity choice, etc is very important. Websites, logo's etc are way overrated but you need them to be seen as credible by educated buyers. Would you do a significant financial transaction with somebody who could not even get a website up and running or uses a yahoo or gmail account?
