How to get started in Life Insurance

I just got my California license and am overwhelmed by the job market. I don't have any idea how to get started as life agent. Many companies want me to spend thousands a week for leads others want me to work directly with many insurers and by E&O insurance, one place I am to be an employee.

How do I get started, where do I look, how do I even know what I want?

Are there any mentors out there who can help me.

What and how much do you know about Life Insurance? Your best bet is to work for someone and learn. Ask lots of questions, study the answers. Find out how to line up your contact with the policy that works best for THEM. It might be Term, Universal, Whole, or a combination of the three.

Does your mom know you sell life insurance and how old is she?

This is a business, not a job... unless you are offered an hourly wage.

Because it's a business, there are many facets behind making a business decision.

Why did you want to get a license in the first place?

Once you know which direction you want to get into, start interviewing them.
