Have any agents been involved in the ASB cult? I recently left the agency and they cut my renewals after I worked there for years. Do I have any legal rights if I'm an independent contractor?

My independent contractor status is laughable considering I was absolutely an employee. They had control over every aspect of my career and then when I left, they cut my renewals. Has anyone else had to go through this? Any advice? any other asb issues?

ASB is just like Bankers Life but with a better choice of companies.

If you did any research at all you should have known going in what to expect. They will not treat you well when you leave.

The bright side is, now you can make some real money.

I was fresh out of college. But yes, I see how horrible they are. Do you know of anyone who has battled them in court? I refuse to watch 5k a month in renewals to be cut when I was a "vested" agent.

If you haven't read your agent contract already, now would be a good time to do so before engaging legal counsel to fight them.

Ever consider reporting them to the Dept. of Labor? If they are controlling their agents to that degree, they could be forced to put them on W-2 employee status and all that entails. Even if an agent signs an independent contract, there are certain things the agency cannot do. One is force you to report at certain times, telling you when and where to work.

I was there and my contract said 5 years vested as well. I didn't make it that long there but a guy who left when I did was vested. They paid his renewals but made every attempt to rewrite all of his clients.

Are you sure they aren't just doing that? What is there reasoning for cutting your renewals?

And no there's no basis for being W2. They don't force you to be in the office, or make you do anything. The only control they have is what companies you can write.
