Recently replaced one of their policies that was poorly placed...

I have never used them...

After this experience I may never use them... they are making quite an issue out of the surrender for my client. Filled out paper work and now they want a notary on top of all of that... What?

Anyone want to correct my thinking... or am I to assume that they are someone to just stay away from?

Is this an actual Kemper policy, or one of the captive Home Service (debit) companies? I know the debit companies get wierd when any transaction isn't personally handled by their agent.

I just checked some notes... it is another company... Reliable?... Does that sound correct?
Reliable is one of their debit companies. I'm surprised that you would find it in Illinois, though. I thought they operated as United in Illinois.

If it's Reliable the debit company, they're set up to throw any customer service matter back to the agent. That's actually a good thing if it's a good agent. A good home service agent doesn't want service to be handled by anybody but him, so he stays in the loop in every transaction. To the home service client, the agent IS the company.

But your client may have moved out of Reliable's service area. If that's the case, then there's no local agent to handle those matters, so it's tough on everybody involved!

The agent is no longer with the company in this case... and she was issued GI when she didn't need to be.

I'm still not sure about the name of the company, bu they do fall under the Kemper umbrella... at this point in the game I don't want anything to do with them except remove business that has been poorly placed... :realmad:

The only think Kemper has anymore that is worth a damn is their stand alone Home Health Policy. One of the few available on the market.

All I can say is that this customer service experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth...

I don't want my name attached to any products they have to offer if they are unable or unwilling to help their own client... :nah:

They don't need me...

Are you working in an urban area? If you are, and there was one policy like this, then there are probably several more in her neighborhood. I've known clients who had GI with them when I could have gotten them issued preferred. But that company's health underwriting is much more stringent than what independent agents are used to. They also can't write a standard policy if the person is over 75. So even perfectly healthy 76 year olds get written GI. And it's a seriously overpriced GI to boot, even for a debit company!

Not a rural area... I wish I had this agents list (no longer with the company) something tells me he was a green horn and most of his business was GI.

And yes... it was over priced.

If I can get the name of the insurance I'll try to remember to pass it on.
