Liberty Mutual Agent?

So this ad was emailed to me today from a Liberty Mutual Recruiter. So obviously this would be a captive agent and not independent agent, but I wanted some feedback on "the job".

"Launch Your Sales Career at Liberty Mutual – A Fortune 100 Company!

Our Sales Representatives are W2 Employees – not Independent Agents.

Our Sales Model is DISTINCT from other insurance models:

We cover the cost for you to obtain your insurance licenses during our 13-week paid training - that means no up-front expenses for you.
We offer compensation that includes a base salary +uncapped commission + renewal commission + monthly car allowance + mileage reimbursement.
We offer comprehensive benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Paid Time Off and 401k – effective your first day of employment.

In this exciting Sales Representative role you will:
Sell auto, home, and life insurance to consumers for a Fortune 100 company
Actively prospect for new customers through relationship building, community based networking, and calling members of group voluntary benefit accounts
Participate in on-site prospecting activities at community and employer events
Learn the insurance business from the ground up while participating in our extensive training program
Work in a professional sales environment "

Anyone have any knowledge of this? Thanks

LM sure is getting a lot of mentions in the forum the last few weeks. I wonder if they're starting some massive new recruitment?

Just search for posts about LM. Over the last few weeks there have been many threads about the very thing you're asking, you'll probably get all your questions answered.

Also you may want to seek out nyc2phi on here. He's a captive LM agent and can give you plenty of insight.

Thanks for the reference Dubya!

@NewInsuranceLady:

Liberty Mutual is a great company to work for. As you can see they can offer a lot of perks to their agents that most can not. Base salary, full benefits, uncapped commission, and bonuses. If hired you will go to training for 2 weeks at either Phoenix, AZ or Orlando, FL which is a great time and you learn alot. When you get back you will start prospecting for two months before you go "on plan". You will be prospecting leads they send you, calling companies to offer a program that will allow you to sell to their employees, and finding ways to generate your own leads (most important). When you go on plan your salary will drop to about half of what it was while you were training but at this point is when you will be eligible for commissions.

Feel free to PM and I can give you more information or even my contact info to see if I can help you out more.

Thanks, I'll check the forum to see what I find. And hopefully anyone else who has some feedback will leave it here as well.

LM is a great place to start and they are recruiting heavily in MD, DC, and VA because of a lot of turnover. Most reps are there 1-3 years so the recruiters and managers have to keep the pipeline full. My old office has 3 new people training now.

No offense intended but read that sentence you posted. "It's a great company, they turn over a lot of people."

Is it just me that sees something a bit off about that?

Sorry I should have elaborated. The training is good but then the best agents who want to stay in the industry leave and open independent agencies. I left along with the top 6 other agents in our branch within the last 2 years. They will train you and you can decide of course whether to stay or go.

You can make $60-$100k a year realistically but most people don't go into sales to settle on that amount and leave if they can really sell.

So when do you start getting paid..Do you get paid salary even before you go on the plan? And while in training.
