Yeah so I never got a response on the other forum so I thought I would try this one...

I was wondering if anyone here has been employed by Liberty Mutual as a sales rep. If so, how was your experience? How was the training? What is the typical payout on home auto and life (new business and renewal)? They mentioned a base salary on the ad, how much is the salary?

Whats the difference between a sales rep and an AGENT?

I am an AGENT not a sales rep....

Just what they call the position.

I think its more of a corporate atmosphere opposed to a single location. I think that may have something to do with it

Sales rep is the name of Liberty's sales agent position. It's a good place to start and learn. The base salary is $35k-$45k while you study for the tests then drops to about $25k when start selling.

The base drops each year until leveling off year 4. In MD it was $25k, $23k, $21k, then $15k. You can also earn overtime and you don't have any expenses.

The commission is around 10% for auto and 14% on home then 20-30% on life. Renewals on p&c are 1.3% (yes that is correct lol). This was the main reason I decided to go independent. Not a bad place to start because of no office, staff, or marketing expenses etc. but if you are going to make a career out of it independent is the way to go.

Sounds like a good place to start prior to branching off.

How is the hiring process ? Is it difficult to get a job ? How long does it take?

I am fully licensed.

They will throw an on line test at you, when you sign up.. be ready. From what i hear it is a good place to start.

Great ! Thank you.

Took the test, had a phone interview, now just waiting for them to schedule a meeting with a manager.

I worked with Liberty for a few months. I did not like the fact that you can only write Liberty products. Also the book is not yours. If you leave or get promoted to management, you cannot keep your clients.

Does not make sense to me. All that work and they get to keep the book. You can't even transfer it to your child.

Independent is the way I went. Very tough but in the long run it will pay off.
