Mr. Bloody Sock (Curt Schilling) and AIG Mix it up

Very Surprised they can do this

I mean it's beyond not getting service or allowed to enter a business or even not allowed to purchase a product

I don't know what kind of insurance product ( I would guess life due to the forum section)but in most cases, they are underwriting and premium based on age

If he spent time and money on the policy even if he gets premiums back can he get the same plan elsewhere is underwriting effected is new premium higher because he had this policy for X amount of years and now starting new?

An interesting statement in the article def something to ponder

"What happened to Schilling is yet another chilling example of how the Chinese Communist social credit score system is being implemented in America."

This was a decision by a privately owned company that is not owned or controlled by the government. The government had nothing to do with this decision, it was a free market decision.

Insurance contracts certainly have clauses that allow for policy cancelation. The main clause would be inaccurate information provided on the application. Usually, contracts have a 2 year limitation on contesting a policy.

However, I believe some have a lifetime clause for criminal behavior. IF his social media profile shared some type of info that could be considered criminal behavior, then that could be the case.

I also know that some states look at the 2 year rule differently when there is an increasing DB in play. That could also be the case and they could have found some type of material misstatement that was exposed by his social media posts.

Someone mentioned to me that it was a professional liability policy?

I assumed we were talking about life insurance. If its P&C for professional liability, then heck yeah they can cancel it for what he says. His profession is being a political commentator, so his social media is an extension of his profession.

Hmm... is that we we call a bit intolerant?

Not to get all political, but this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Wonder if commission checks will ever be in danger? :wideeyed: Wonder if the agent is still getting paid on this?

Ever wonder what a old timer back in 1920 would have said to you if you told him that eventually he wouldn't be able to smoke in public, that they would be selling aborted baby parts, and his neighbors would have to pay for the operations if he decided to become a woman?

Historically this is not new, we've seen this take place in many, many countries around the world during the 20th century.

We are not at vigilant as we need to be... and we will all pay the cost.

I have pondered for a long time how the left claims to be the tolerant party of acceptance Yet they have so little tolerance and acceptance for those that disagree with there approved thinking

So screw the whole free market economic system we built all in the name of what a certain group of people deem right and wrong?

Thats called Fascism. We have seen and still see the horrific effects of that as well.

This is a private company making a business decision in the free market.

If you think Curt Shilling is a suitable risk for Professional Liability Insurance, Im sure he is looking for a new underwriter.

I don't think that's the interesting thing here, though it's not crazy to speculate that a large corporation could be looking to symbolically ingratiate itself to the political party in control, which would be the government having SOMETHING to do with it.

Is cancel culture now so prominent that it's viewed by large companies as a good marketing strategy? If so, that's a REALLY bad sign or society in general.

And there IS room for government involvement down the road. If we see a lot of this, the logical idea would be for "undesireables" to get insurance from insurers who don't play this game, but would those insurers then be regulated out of business by the government?
