Obviously, this is NY specific and does not apply to any other states, but there is some interesting stuff put into writing.

Page 3 has a nice flowchart showing how brokers, companies, IPA's/Navigators fit into the SHOP model.

SHOP training=8CE credits, classes begin in early August and continue through '14 (as we already know, it's only a few hours of actual class time, but there are a lot of people to get trained.)

Test is "immediately" following training (not a separate day as is common with the normal life/accident/health license tests here.)

Demonstration of the enrollment portal, QHP information, and info on training/certification is coming soon as per the last slide.

Although most of us do not live in NY, it is always helpful to see communication from carriers and regulators. Thank you for sharing.

Any official information we can get from any state gives us a clearer picture of the nation's PPACA effort.

Additionally, there is a ton of room for precedents to be set by states further ahead in reform. Arguments sake, don't be surprised to see other states follow the "8ce credit" benchmark set by NY.

New York's neighbor, New Jersey, will have 4 companies in the Individual Products exchange. (NJ will also have a stand-alone SHOP exchange for small businesses)

3. AmeriHealth New Jersey
4. FreeLancers Cooperative of New Jersey

Thanks AC, looks like Oxford and Cigna aren't playing in NJ.

For reference, NY carriers/plans/rates should be out "mid July". Until then, all lips are sealed.
