If someone has signed up for a plan, Feb 1st effective date OEP choice

And I write a new app new carrier for Feb 1st Effective Date OEP Choice

Will the 2nd app cancel the 1st since it is before the effective date?

or does she have to call and cancel before submitting the new app?

He must call and cancel if you want to use the OEP election code. Alternatively, if there is another SEP available, such as 5-Star or LIS, you can use that.

Since both apps were written in January using the OEP election for coverage to start Feb 1, then in this situation the last app in would win. Now if an OEP app was taken in Jan, then another OEP app could not be taken in February.

OEP, which runs from Jan. 1 to March 31 – is the time when Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in MA plans have the opportunity to make a one-time election to change their coverage. The change will take effect the first of the month after the plan receives the change reques

Perhaps it depends on the carrier, but I do know for a fact that certain carriers will only process one application with an OEP election code per year. They will deny it if a second application comes in with the OEP code, even if the plan hasn't become effective yet.

I'm on a Facebook 10 k Medicare group . Some very experienced agents are saying if the oep has not become effective it will knock out the other app . Also if you have Medicare only you can sign up for a 5 star plan any time of the yr .I do aca too . I take calls for Aca from on demand threw the mkt place . It's been really good . I bet I sold 25 lives threw it . Last wed I take a call . Ladies a permanent resident from El Salvador . I write her and her husband . She texts me the next day she knows 3-4 families that desperately need my help . Several spoke very little English . But all legal residents or citizens .Friday night o ever out there at 6 pm . I was there till 11 . I wrote 6 family's . Amazingly all had tax returns they brought done by a cpa . But I had never done a resident before . So we had to call mkt place . Always something to learn .
