Pros Vs Cons of Owning an Insurance Agency

Pro's- if you are a good agent/salesperson/marketer you will make a whole lot of money and control your own destiny.

Con's- if you are not a good agent/salesperson/marketer then you will lose a lot of money and waste a lot of time.

Agreed. I know people making 15k a year and people making 2-3 mil a year.

Pro: own your own business, higher pay-outs on comm, freedom of boss's and their schedules, a chance for a very prosperous future .

Cons: own your own business, little support, up front cost and on going costs, competition, & failure.

I'm no expert in the insurance industry, but from a marketing perspective I can add:

Pros: Who doesn't want/need insurance?

Cons: Why would they choose your insurance?

That's why at the moment I am focusing on promoting affiliate offers from reputable insurance companies like Esurance, Allstate, etc.

Granted, the payouts aren't as big as someone that is a licensed broker, but it pays nonetheless and all the advertising these companies do sure helps.

Isn't one of the cons that when one first starts out, they are limited to the quality of carriers they can offer? Unlike Life & Health, becoming contracted with P&C company is more difficult. I may be wrong.

I have a buddy who had to start off with the not-so-great companies and then work up to the bigger, better-known companies after his production reached a certain level.
