So today is the deadline to enroll for a plan to become effective Jan. 1. However, if someone already selected a plan directly thru an insurance company but didn't go thru the Marketplace, they're not going to get a subsidy. Can they still call the Marketplace today to select a different (or possibly even the same plan) and get the subsidy? If they don't call today, could they still call some time before open enrollment ends and have the different plan effective at a later date (i.e. call Dec. 27 and have the plan effective Feb. 1)? Just wondering what recourse folks have to still try and get a subsidy.

The answer is yes..........in a perfect world.

Just don't pay the first premium with the initial company, and you have to the 10th to pay the bill at most carriers. If get thru HC.gov and get notification with new carrier, than don't pay company #1.

Or, for a smoother transition, go for Feb 1st. I believe during open enrollment, you can switch plans. Think of it, can you imagine this administration NOT letting someone choose a different plan, that's the opposite of "you can keep" or "must stay in your plan". :goofy:
