Alright.

Thought I would download the Community version of SugarCRM Vtiger. I clicked on the link provided by a board member, clicked on download community version. It downloaded it.

Then I double clicked on CRM zipped file to unzip it, and it did it.

Now what!

How do I get it to a Desktop Icon, and how do I get it to run?

Likely you downloaded the wrong copy.

Download CRM Sugar Community Edition Free | Open Source Business & Social CRM - SugarCRM

The faststack exe installer at the top of the download links below the very top one, that is like 300 megs, is the right copy.

Download Helper | Open Source Business & Social CRM - SugarCRM

It installs a mysql server, installs the apache server and php runtime, all of which are required to run the software.

Sugar Community Edition Documentation | Open Source Business & Social CRM - SugarCRM

Is the link to the installation guide for windows.

Also, I posted a link to my field settings for sugar on a different thread, I'll probably write all this up into something simpler than sugar did when I have spare time but I'm looking at a task list of like 30 or 40 things right now on different projects.

Sugar is not the easiest install in the whole world, but you can likely figure it out with those links.

Thinking about it, I think there is a demo site set up on sugarcrm.com somewhere, and I can install a demo copy on my site too with the admin stuff disabled for people to see, with the field customizations I use.

I did it.

Wasted 45 minutes of my life. Downloaded everything. Then, the very LAST THING it said was, "Cannot connect to database, please see sugarcrm.log for details.

There was no log on the website.

Taking it off my computer, and continuing to use FREECRMdotcom.

Don't have the time for this bull.

u can do a one click install of sugar on your own webserver , for example shared hosting account with hostgator. not sure which version. check it out.

Yeah I think hostgator does have sugar loaded up in their installable stuff, there are a couple other internet providers that do it in shared hosting also.

Costs like 5$ a month that way.
