Hi. Has anyone ever worked for them? Could you share your experiences either good or bad. How is the commission structure? Management?
Thanks so much everyone.

Can you be more specific? I am newer to the industry and don't want to be played for a fool by them.

What Jacob specifically means is don't sign up with them at all.

Being captive with a fraternal is very limiting. I would open your research up to other companies if you want to be a captive agent. Have you looked at New York Life, NorthWestern Mutual, Met Life, etc.?

Also explore any captive positions with independent agencies in your city. That way you could sell a variety of companies.

All that being said, I have met one person that was perfectly happy as a captive agent at Woodman. I have no idea how much he makes.

I appreciate the seasoned advice. My first experience as a captive was ok as far as the training in product knowledge/sales cycle for insurance products.
The limits of whom we can sell to as well as being assigned a specific amount of members seems to set one up for mediocre performance, at best.
I liked WOW because they offer their product specific to them but also broker out for other products.
My genuine concern is a comparison of what or how much I am leaving on the table in commission amounts.
I wonder if they try to "carrot on the stick" with their agent benefits? I guess I can answer that question. Lol
If I go total Indy my initial expenses will exceed my "captive costs".
I am just plain confused as to what is the best option.

That is true about your initial expenses. That's how it is when you are an independent agent. It's your business and you need money to get that business off the ground.
That said, a good captive situation such as what Newby suggested would be your best bet if you don't have the resources to go independent at the moment.
If you can afford to go indy from the start, you will start recouping those expenses after a few months of successful selling. After about a year, you will be thankful you took this route and if you can stick it out a solid year, your chances of succeeding over the long haul increases exponentially.

Can you good folks recommend a broker to associate with? Of course , I also need to figure out what carriers to appoint with to maximize client satisfaction and well, my commissions.
I don't mind investing in me and my business I just want to avoid the typical freshman mistakes.

Any recommendations would be most appreciated. I just need to maximize my ROI on everything I do in this business.

Thanks

I did. I quickly realized the "opportunity" as presented is not all its cracked up to be. Not going to be a long term arrangement.
