Working for SCI

I worked for them for a year back in 1999.

Their glory days SEEM to be over but I guess that depends what other options you have. Some of it depends on the local management.

What city are you in?

They are the Dignity Memorial people.

I worked for them for a short time and left. Can be very time-consuming and difficult to make money.

Are you looking to be a Family Service Counselor or Community Service?

Service Corporation International= SCI. They are the largest single owner of Funeral homes & Cemetaries in the USA? If u are to work as an in house Family service counselor, handling walk ins & taking phone calls, fine. If u are to be an outside rep I would run and hide. From my exp, the leads they promise never happen or are worthless. And thats if they even offer you any? I believe they just hire anyone who can fog a mirror, and when u figure out u can not make any $, u quit & they hire someone else. Its the old churn & burn or turn & burn principle. They may have changed, but I doubt it?

My experience with them was the opposite. The agents that took the inside deal (mainly waiting on walk-ins at the cemetery) made squat.

I was out in the field and worked the funeral home leads and files and made great money. I just didn't like the people from Houston.

I don't think anyone there makes great money anymore. They totally changed the pay structure after that. I was there the year their stock price went from $75 to $1.33

I hope I wasn't personally responsible for that.

Found out they just cut their commission rate from possible 13% to 9% as of 03/12, thus a lot of sales reps quit. Spoke to couple of current sales rep, they say its not a bad place to work but it was hard enough to make a decent living w/ the old commission rate, the new rates aren't worth it for them.

yes newby I remember that happening. I'm talking about the funeral homes, not cemetery. In Arizona the people making the $ were the inside people. Outside reps made zero. The leads never happened. Managers were scum.

When I was there we were making 30% on the good ages.
