The Society for Annuity Facts & Education (SAFE) announced the appointment of insurance industry veteran, Robert “Bob” Phillips, shown at left, to the role of Executive Director on Sept. 26.
Sheryl Moore, Chair of the SAFE Board of Directors, said, “Bob is a long-time annuity advocate with a passion for the annuity industry. His reputation as a proven leader, coupled with his industry experience, make him the right person to direct SAFE to success. Phillips’ dedication for obtaining accurate information about the role annuities play in a balanced retirement portfolio drives his vision for the future of SAFE.”
Phillips has served the life insurance and annuity industries for more than 25 years. He has spent more than a decade building and leading independent marketing organizations and life brokerage groups in addition to holding executive positions in marketing and distribution in a variety of channels for both investment and insurance markets, and served as a FINRA arbitrator.
Phillips’ past experience building products, developing distribution channels, and facilitating mergers and acquisitions will be integral to the growth of SAFE. Phillips’ past nonprofit experience includes serving as the Chairman of the Board for the National Association for Fixed Annuities (NAFA).
“Americans now, more than ever, need information on safe and secure options for retirement funding and lifetime income options. Accurate and unbiased consumer education provided by an independent third-party is not readily available,” Phillips said. “SAFE will continue to enhance its mission of providing consumer education across multiple platforms, allowing consumers to make educated decisions about their retirement planning.”
Phillips commenced his initial review of SAFE’s strategic plans and is developing an exploratory committee, which will assist in formulating a vision that will shape SAFE’s initiatives for the future.
