I wanted to get everyone's opinion towards which agency management system might be best. I am currently a captive agent and will be converting to independent (P and C mostly). I will be starting out very small ( just myself ) to start. I do understand the importance of have a good management system in place, but also do not want to break the bank starting up.

What do you all think about AMS360 vs. Quomation? From what I hear AMS360 is top of the line, but will also cost me around $1500 more to start up and an additional $150 per month.... is it worth it?

not worth it in the beginning.

Use the search function and you will be able to read for hours

I have been looking at agency management systems for the last couple of months. Agency Matrix For ease of use and cost .
$399 setup and under $100 a month. Is my choice if I were starting an agency.

I think quomations powermanage is the best bang for the money. We are paying 100 bucks a month, it does everything we need it to. Don't waste your money on an expensive system.

I agree, I have quomation, i think the rater and management are like $150 a month or so, and I love their newest feature of texting clients from the management system, so that it is tracked, so say a policy cancelled, or a NSF hit, you can text them and it is documented.

I wouldnt' go with AMS360 until you are a lot bigger. It's a great system but overkill I think for a new agent.

i believe quomation gives you 2 weeks free trial on the rater, whine a little, they will give you another 2 weeks.

I started from zero with AMS360. I did my research and found that AMS is by far the best system out there. It expensive but it will be more expensive later when you have to transfer everything to AMS when you grow. I'm 2 years into my business and the system has helped me grow faster than expected. The start up fee or set up fee is negotiable and you can request payments on it. I pay $400 a month but its one of the best investments I have done for my agency.

I agree. I am 2 years in. I also did a lot of research when I started. I talked to every company out there with a system to sell.

I kept coming back to 360 as clearly the best on the market.
BUT I let cost rule the day and went with a very cheap system.

2 weeks in I sent it all back and got a full refund.

So I went back through everyone again and like the first time it was clear 360 was the best system.

BUT once again cost drove me away. However this time I did get closer to 360 and went with a Vertafore product that cost considerably more than the first system and other systems I could have tried.

Next month we go live on 360.

The system I thought was expensive but lots less than 360 ended up costing me many thousands more than I knew.

Tech support, servers, accounting/bookkeeping, down time, wasted time and just the overall user experience when it took 5 steps to do what should be done in 2 steps all cost me tens of thousands of dollars.

I am not saying 360 is for everyone but when the Vertafore rep tells you to factor in "real" cost for the lesser systems they aren't just trying to sell you. It is very true.

As someone said everything is negotiable.

I will say this...the deal I got is best described like airline tickets.

Have you ever been on a flight and talking to the guy next to you and you find out he paid $200 for the flight while your ticket cost $850?

Yea I got that kind of deal. If some user knew how much I am paying they might riot at Vertafore HQ's!
